Inspired by the skies of Africa and the scattering of a human presence, within a largely rural Ontario landscape, my work consists of a series of contemporary simplified and stylized landscapes – the goal being to capture just some of the sense of infinite time and space that exists outside of the city environment. Working in oil on canvas, colours are saturated, shapes are flattened, and contrast exaggerated.
Involved with art for most of my life, I was born in South Africa, and raised in Zimbabwe. I arrived in Canada in the late 80’s.
Though originally began studying architecture, I quickly switched to art and kept the wolf from the door as a multi-national award-winning art director/creative director in Toronto, until moving into the country to paint full-time in 2003.
My work has been successfully shown in Galleries and numerous Fine Art Festivals both sides of the border.
It can be found in private collections in Canada, Europe and the US.
