Floyd Elzinga is primarily inspired by the natural world. I have been exploring the tradition of landscape painting through non-traditional materials and techniques resulting in sculptural metal relief portraits of trees. The tenacity and resilience of trees as they grow under constant and relentless stress is revealed through the outward appearance and physical structure of a tree. The nature of prevailing forces upon the Tree are physically manifest in its intricate organic architecture.
